Survey winners

We want to thank everyone who responded to our recent Publications survey. It provided us exactly the information we were looking for to "get the word out" more effectively on Razor. Be sure and watch for Razor popping up in various and new advertising medias.

Now for the winners, chosen completely at random by our crack sales staff.

  • Top prize of a Tower attache' case goes to Grant Claypack
  • 2nd prize of a Tower polo shirt goes to Mitzi Wineinger
  • 3rd prize of a Tower coffee mug goes to Murray Hays
Congratulations to the winners and thanks again for the information as well as your support of Razor. Stay tuned for future contests, only available to Concepts subscribers.

Y2K Update - Razor on HP-UX 9.x

For our customers running Razor on HP-UX 9.0x (...there may be a few of you out there...), we're sure that you're aware that HP will not be making this version of their Operating System Y2K compliant. This will definitely have an impact on the functionality and performance of Razor.

Though Razor itself is Y2K Compliant (version 4.x), we ALSO require the underlying OS to be Y2K Compliant...since we rely on Host Operating System utilities (time-related functions, utilities and the archival engines, SCCS and RCS) for various Razor actions.

It is Tower Concepts position that support for Razor on HP-UX 9.x will end in December, 1999. We are making this announcement now to allow those users time to consider steps necessary to upgrade the underlying OS for a smooth transition into the new year with Razor.

This announcement has NO impact on HP-UX Razor users running on HP-UX 10.x and 11.0 or Razor users on any other OS.

For HP-UX 9.x Razor users, we recommend an upgrade to a Y2K Compliant version of your OS. Razor Administrators SHOULD discuss this with their System Administrators or appropriate System personnel prior to taking any action. For additional information on HP-UX Y2K Upgrade Programs, we suggest visiting Y2K-upgrades .

It is our intention to use this Newsletter forum as a means to provide reminders, tips, and advice regarding the Y2K issue and Razor.

Puzzler...

Willy Hope placed the Do Not Disturb sign on the handle and closed the door. Willy noted the time as 1:00am and called the front desk for a wake-up call at 11:00am. Exhausted, Willy fell into bed and tried in vain to fall asleep. By 3:00am, unable to sleep, Willy asked the front desk to page Sally, his business associate in the next room, with an urgent message. Luckly, Willy heard the phone ringing in Sally's room and a few minutes later he mercifully fell asleep. What could the ringing phone in Sally's room have to do with Willy's ability to fall asleep?
