Are you Y2K compliant?

Well, ready or not here it comes. This deadline (January 1st) can't be delayed, postponed, handed off to someone else, etc. etc. We've all been hearing about (and hopefully preparing for) the onset of the new millennium. As we here at Tower have stated for quite a while, Razor itself is Y2K compliant, BUT it depends upon the underlying operating system and support tools.

Over the past 18 months, our support team has performed Y2K sanity checks on all of our supported operating systems. These tests were conducted on "minimally configured" systems with only required OS patches. Other than the standard time & date functions, we also found that SCCS may require patches. While we can't tell you which patches are required for your system (that depends on your configuration and factors only you can answer), we can tell you which systems require OS patches to make SCCS Y2K compliant.

Here are the results indicating the problem platform/OS version and a related URL you can use for more vendor specific information. We have NOT listed all operating systems, only those Tower has experienced problems with. Please verify the compliance of your operating system with your operating system vendor.

Mini Tech tip

We've had a number of inquiries lately about how to determine the user name from within a script. Well, its actually very easy. If you didn't know off hand, you have an excuse - it's not in the manual (oops, thats my fault ;-) Use the environment variable RAZOR_USER. This is true for all Razor tools, including IssueWeaver.
