Using Enterprise Architecture for IT & Business Governance - Part 1

Using Enterprise Architecture for IT and Business Governance Requirements - Part 1. This White Paper describes a practical approach for rapid enterprise compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley driven IT and business governance requirements.

It shows how internal controls can be established by senior management using a Governance Analysis Framework (GAF). This is used to document the relationships within an enterprise that support financial and other reporting requirements. It is based on a comprehensive organizing framework using the Zachman Framework for Enterprise Architecture, as well as proven Enterprise Architecture methods and tools for the documentation and management of the GAF. It ensures that senior management is able to comply with the internal control reporting requirements of Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002.

Tech Tip

Viewing Issues and Threads History

You can easily view the History of any issue or thread directly from the Versions GUI. Here's how:

  1. Initiate a Versions session.
  2. In the Versions GUI, select Edit/Tool Properties.
  3. In the Tool Properties GUI, uncheck "Hide thread groups" and "Hide issue groups." Hit OK.
  4. In the Version GUI, select Groups/Threads or Groups/Issues. Versions will now display information on the group you selected.
  5. To view the history of any item, highlight an object in the Versions GUI, and go Utilities/Info. The top portion of the File Info GUI shows the object's current status. The lower pane shows the object's history.

TIP: If you double-click on an issue, you will see the issue's content. If you double-click on a thread, you will see the thread's content.

LCSIS

In today's very competitive global manufacturing environments, those enterprises that have adopted PLM/PDM solutions like Visible's LCSIS are moving to the forefront of product innovation and product development, according to industry leaders like DELCO Remy. According to a recent article in "Managing Information" those who've had PDM up and running for six months or longer are beginning to report dramatic improvements to their product development processes and operational cost reductions. Early adopters like Lockheed Martin, DELCO, and IBM say they have cut back on the number of disparate systems used to house product-related data, a reduction which trims software licensing and IT support costs. Others report huge savings in the administrative expenses associated with staffing print rooms to deal with engineering changes and the shipping costs related to mailing drawings back and forth. There are also harder-to-quantify benefits like fostering parts reuse, reducing scrap, and getting products to market in a more timely fashion.
